My name is Meghan, and I am a first-year Biology major at the University of California, Irvine. I am writing this war themed blog as an assignment for my Humanities Core class. Through this assignment, I hope to explore many different takes on a variety of wars, but particularly the different conflicts we face that are not typically thought of as war. When I first began writing this blog, I thought I would limit my theme to the wars dealing with social injustice, however upon beginning this task, I have realized that my true interest is a much broader topic, lying in the intangible aspects of war. War is not necessarily limited to armed conflicts. It also encompasses social conflicts, internal conflicts and so much more. It is in this area of study that I hope to focus my future blog posts. Analyzing war, and the many forms it takes, is important because it has always had a presence in our history, and will continue to be a problem for the human race, at least until we fully understand its causes and consequences.
